Graduation and Advisory

Graduation Requirements

PHS has recently implemented new graduation requirements. Beginning with the class of 2017, students will now have to complete a graduation portfolio. This portfolio will consist of work collected from Freshmen to Senior year. Not all projects from all classes will be eligible for the portfolio but your teachers and your assigned advisor will be able to assist you with every step of your portfolio. In addition to academic work, students will also be required to pay their class dues ($25 each year or $100 total) and participate in at least 20 hours of volunteer work.

Advisory

As mentioned above, all students will be assigned an advisor. They will have the same advisor for all four years of their high school career. This advisor will assist in building and completing graduation portfolios as well as helping to teach and instill the Putnam High School Core Values (Respect, Responsibility, Community, and Integrity). Advisory classes have about 12 students per group and meet biweekly; at each meeting the advisor will have a topic to work on with their group of advisee's. Topics include time management, responsibility, collaboration, self-improvement, team building etc. You should feel free to talk with your advisor about any concerns or questions that you may have.
