Putnam Middle School

-A A +A

Welcome to Putnam Middle School for the 2016-2017 school year! I hope that our students and families are having an enjoyable summer break. As we prepare for the new school year, I want to share the following information with you.

Open House for Putnam Middle School is Tuesday, August 30, 2016, at 5:00 p.m. and will begin in our auditorium. Students are welcome and encouraged to attend. A copy of your child’s schedule is enclosed. Please bring this to Open House. The format for Open House has changed for this year. You will have the opportunity to meet with each team as well as walk around the school with your child. The agenda for the evening is enclosed.

There will be a Fall Sports Meeting for all students planning to participate in boys’ soccer, girls’ soccer, or cross country. Parents/guardians of fall sports athletes need to attend this meeting with their child. It will be held before Open House on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at 4:30 p.m. in the cafeteria.

The first day of school is Wednesday, August 31, 2016. School hours for the 2016-2017 school year are from 7:30 a.m. to 2:10 p.m. Students should arrive to school no later than 7:25 a.m. so that they will be in homeroom on time before 7:30 a.m. The earliest students are to be dropped off is 7:15 a.m. If you are picking your child up at the end of the school day, your child will exit the building after buses leave the parking lot.

Putnam Middle School will continue to provide breakfast to students each morning. Students wanting breakfast will pick it up in the cafeteria after arriving to school and then bring it to homeroom. This program continues to be at no cost to families.

School pictures will be taken on Friday, September 23, 2016. We are working with Donner Photographic, Inc. again this year. All money must be turned in the day pictures are taken. All students will be photographed for the yearbook, even if thy are not purchasing a picture package.

I want all students in Putnam Middle School to have an engaging, productive, safe, successful, and fun middle school experience. Our faculty is committed to challenging our students to become independent learners and responsible citizens while being responsive to their social and emotional needs. The essential skills that students develop here at Putnam Middle School will help them meet with success in high school and in years to come.

I am looking forward to working with you to help each student have a successful year. If I can be of any assistance or should you have any questions, please feel free to contact me by email at brucet@putnam.k12.ct.us or by telephone at 860-963-6920.

Sincerely,

Teri E. Bruce, Principal
