Welcome to the eighth grade! We hope the following information will ease the transition to a new grade and answer questions that you may have.
Student Agendas, which contain the school’s policies and expectations, have been or will soon be distributed to your child(ren). Parents are asked to review this at the start of the school year. Parents are recommended to check their child’s agenda on a daily basis for homework assignments and correspondence from teachers. Your support is appreciated.
Organization is a key ingredient to everyone’s success. We require that students bring to class:
- Agenda (which we will give to students)
- Pen or pencil
- Method of organizing materials such as handouts and notes
- Three ring binder
- Folders with pockets
- Specific class materials
- Possibly Including:
- Interactive Notebook

Communication is essential and we will be using a variety of methods to keep you up to date with your child’s progress. Progress reports will be issued mid-quarter for all students. Weekly emails will be sent home via a program called ClassDojo. Students should also be actively using their agendas to list assignments and homework. You can check this to keep track of the work that students are assigned. Letters about the end of year events will also be sent home periodically. The most efficient way to contact your child’s teacher is through e-mail.

Daily homework is due the next school day unless otherwise noted by a teacher. If a student does not have his/her homework on the date due, students may be asked to remain after school or come in during morning recess to complete the work. Homework Room will be available after school. More information will be provided soon.
We will be holding fundraisers this school year. Fundraising will help to defray the cost of our trip to New York. Your participation in these efforts would be greatly appreciated. Suggestions are welcome.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact any one of us. We wish you and your child(ren) a positive and successful school year!
