The kindergarten year is moving fast. We have introduced most of our letters and sounds. And we are working on using them to blend CVC words. We are looking forward to seeing what good readers and writers we will be by the end of the year! In math, we are currently working on addition, subtraction, counting to 100 fluently, and soon we will be working on bigger numbers. In Second Step, we have been talking about identifying emotions and the meaning of empathy. We are working on demonstrating empathy toward others during work and play.
Second Step At Putnam Elementary School
Second Step is a program rooted in social-emotional learning (SEL) that helps transform schools into supportive, successful learning environments uniquely equipped to encourage children to thrive. More than just a classroom curriculum, Second Step’s holistic approach helps create a more empathetic society by providing education professionals, families, and the larger community with tools to enable them to take an active role in the social-emotional growth and safety of today’s children. For most lessons in class, there are Home Links designed to help you follow along with your child at home. Click on the link below for access to the grade-level Second Step Home Links.
